Hsinchu Prefecture Government Hall
The Prefecture Government Hall, also called municipal government hall, is a national historic site. The infrastructures were mainly left by Qing Dynasty in 1895. In 1904, the official Jeng ZooLane, along with other 22 local gentlemen, raised funds to build the new government hall. The building was officially in use on November 26, 1927. In 1932, part of the building was destroyed by the American troops during the end of World War II. Later, further expansions and repairs occurred throughout the period.

Principal Xin Zhiping Former ResidenceLocated on Dongmen Street in Hsinchu City, the former residence of Principal Xin Zhiping is known as one of the famous historic sites. The house, allegedly built around 1922 in the Japanese era, was an official principal's residence for Shinchiku Junior High School (Today's National Hsinchu Senior High School). After it was designated as a historic site in 2002, the Hsinchu City government proceeded with exrensive renovations in memory of the achievements of Xin Zhiping, a great educator and late principal of Hsinchu Senior High School.

Cheng Huang TempleHsinchu Cheng Huang Temple, also known as "City God Temple", is a local landmark and has the highest ranking of all the city god temples in Taiwan. It was founded in 1748, and masterfully restored in 1924. Cheng Huang, the city god of justice and the ruler of the underworld, is responsible for the final judgement of each soul. It is said that Cheng Huang was honored as "Wei-Ling Kung" by Emperor Guangxu oF Qing Dynasty (1888) and the temple was even appointed as one of the royal temples. The Taoist temple also features a huge iron abacus, which is a tool for Cheng Huang to calculate and evaluate people's good and evil deeds in their lifetime.
